Peace For A Wild Thing
By Eden Cain
I want to go back
To that oh so quiet place
Where the wind kisses me
Gently, like a lover
Where the trees whisper my name
In a language, I’ve always known
The hum of the forest
Far from home.
When a golden light filters through the branches
I’ll lay in her arms
Stretching out for more
Always more
Cradled like a babe in the fallen leaves
And when darkness sets in
I will not be afraid
For who could feel blind
Under quite so many stars
Here I can wander
To the rhythm of the evergreens
I will sing my secrets
And let the flowers grow around my ankles
A soft solitude,
A far away Home,
Peace within the wild things
