PalatiDates: “We just didn’t click”

Christian from Hatfield and Mia from St. Mary’s, History and Liberal Arts students, meet for a blind date at Spags.

Christian on Mia

What were your first impressions of your date?

Perfectly friendly and outgoing — and maybe a tiny bit nervous?

What did you talk about?

Our favourite societies, books, and films, our degrees, authentic Italian food and dance — we certainly covered a lot of material!

How would they describe you?

Hopefully not the Hatfield stereotype?

How would you describe them?

Passionate, sociable, down to earth, and energetic — seemed like she was having a great first year!

Most awkward moment?

We just didn’t click.

If they were a Durham night out, which would they be and why?

Slug and Lettuce — fairly chilled, but with a slight edge.

What were you hoping for? Did they deliver on your expectations?

Given the success rate of PalatiDates, I had no idea what to expect, but it was fun to go and meet someone new.

What would you have changed about the experience?

I think a coffee or brunch might have been a better setting for it.

Would you like to see them again?

Not on a date.
