Man discovered in river named

A man found in the River Wear yesterday has been named as Robert Porter.
Police were called at about 15:00 yesterday after receiving reports of a body in the river.
They closed off Framwelgate Bridge as a result.
Porter, 78 and from Spennymoor, County Durham, was reported missing in the early hours of yesterday by staff at the supported living facility where he lived.
A spokeswoman for Durham police said the death is being treated a non-suspicious.
