Durham prepare for Zambia charity match
Wednesday night sees BUCS premiership rugby returning to Durham for its inaugural match of the 2014/15 season.
Durham host Northern rival Leeds University at Durham City Rugby Club kicking off at 6.30pm.
While many have been enjoying the last of the summer sun around 80 boys including a crop of strong freshers have been attending a tough and rigorous pre-season for the last 4 weeks.
Early morning gym sessions, intense pre-season fixtures against the likes of St. Andrews, Bristol and Bath, amongst regular ‘Cam hill sessions’ have thoroughly prepared the boys for the long season ahead.
Despite an injury to captain Jamie Bache, the 1st team is looking well equipped to be a mobile attacking team hoping to emulate a 40-21 victory in the corresponding fixture last year.
A strong win over St. Andrews, Scottish varsity champions, stands the team in good stead.
Please come down to support DURFC this Wednesday and kick-start the biggest night of the week. Food and alcohol will be served.
Tickets are £2 in advance from any club member or college captain or £3 on the door with all money going towards Sport in Action Zambia https://www.teamdurham.com/community/sportinaction/.
