Body found in River Wear

A body was found in the River Wear at 1600 on September 3.

Police officers and firefighters were involved in removing the body from the river, which was found near Framwelgate Bridge.

The bridge was closed to pedestrians while the body was recovered.

Police have not released the identity of the body.
