One of the busiest and most exciting positions in Palatinate, the News Editor heads up a team of four souring Durham for news to fill the front pages of the print edition and keep the website up-to-date with breaking stories. Last term, the News Section covered some huge stories, including the University’s investments in defence contractors, oil firms and chemical companies, riverside safety, and accommodation fee protests, attracting nearly a quarter of a million views along the way. If you have a passion for reporting, why not apply? Some journalistic experience is preferred.
Deputy News Editor
The Deputy News Editor is part of a team of editors who help the News Editor report on and investigate stories to fill the first seven pages of the main paper. If you like writing, investigating and interviewing, what are you waiting for?
We’re looking for an Online Editor to proof-read and publish the regular content on palatinate.org.uk, work with the Web Editor (technical) to drive innovation on the website, and train editors in WordPress. You must have an eye for detail and a desire to make Palatinate‘s website the best that it can be.
Food and Drink Editor
The Food and Drink Editor will source, edit and produce articles, create the Food section’s popular pages, and upload articles to the website. The Food and Drink Editor should provide the best recipes for students to fill their free days, especially in the run up to exams.
