Collingwood top latest College Points Table
A BITTERLY COLD November turned out to be a month to remember for a red hot Collingwood.
Hild Bede had enjoyed a near perfect October leading the newly founded collegiate league table by 33 points over a battling St Aidans.
However, things have truly been turned on their head as Collingwood claimed an amazing 472 points in a mere 5 weeks, consequently putting it on top of the league table with an impressive 648 points.
Van Mildert may not have the depth of colleges like Hild Bede and Hatfield, but its Premiership sides have kept its title ambitions alive with a 373 points turn around.
Many of these points have come from 16 point Premiership wins, and Van Mildert Sports Officer Gareth Yardley still believes closing the 117 point deficit is a real possibility.
He said: “I’m delighted we’re so high in the table this early, and if we’re in the same position come the summer, I’m sure we can finish strongly and push Collingwood all the way.”
Hild Bede, Hatfield and Trevelyan will all be confident that their title ambitions are not yet finished with so much sport, and so many points, up for grabs before the end of the year.
The dog fight at the bottom of the table often proves more enticing than the top, as Butler demonstrated what one good month can do for a college’s fortunes lifting them from 16th to 9th with a 221 point month.
Is the new Hill college beginning to find its feet?
