SCA Column
Never heard of SCA? Student-led, student-focused, SCA is here to offer you opportunities, experience and information about volunteering in the community. This week is Student Volunteering Week and will be a great chance to learn more about what SCA can do for you. There will be some great taster sessions and presentations about getting involved.
Come down on Tuesday at 7pm to ER141 for a talk by Teach First on “Effective Teaching”, sure to be a hit for anyone interested in teaching as a career. You can also try out some hospital volunteering on Wednesday. E-mail community.action@dur.ac.uk for more details.
Green-fingered? Come along to the SCA office any time on Thursday to help us at the Heritage Centre in the city. For a list of all the opportunities available, see the posters dotted about, come in and ask at the office (top floor DSU) or head online to www.dur.ac.uk/community.action
There will be also be a Tea Dance for elderly local residents at St Oswald’s Institute on Wednesday 3rd March from 1pm to 5pm. Sure to be a great afternoon and a unique opportunity to meet with some people who you wouldn’t ever otherwise! There are loads of opportunities to help out. E-mail us for more.
