Netballers’ record attempt just days away

1 June 2012

by Kat Hill

Next week, whilst most people are out testing the stamina of their livers, Durham University Netball Club will be testing their physical fitness in a 72-hour netball match.

Between June 5-8 they will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest non-stop game of netball.

With only 12 players per team the 5 not on court at any time will be resting on the sidelines attempting to catch some sleep in their allocated 2 hours off.

Through this event they’re raising money for Help for Heroes, Team Durham Zambia Project and DUNC.

Any donations at www.justgiving.co.uk/DUNCworldrecord would be really appreciated with 75% of all donations going directly to charity.

Support at all hours of the day or night will be needed to keep the netballers going.

At more sociable hours there’ll be a BBQ on Wednesday and there’ll be free Domino’s at various points throughout the event.

Volunteers are still needed to help keep the event running so if you’re interested send an email to durhamuniversitynetballclub@hotmail.co.uk.

So when nursing your hangovers spare a thought for the netballers stuck in MC sports hall and drop by to show your support.
